Q: Who is your favorite football player and/or team?
A: My favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs and my favorite player is Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Q: what got you interested in playing full contact football?
A: When I saw signup I thought it was really cool and the next week I saw a poster at my school of girls playing flag football and it made me really interested. My dad played football and my mom played with her friends.
Q: what challenges have you faced playing on a team made up mostly of boys and how have you overcome them?
A: My first year of playing football it felt awkward being on a team with all boys. I knew I wasn’t going to be good at anything until I started to practice and I was worried about what they would all think or say. The more I practiced though, the better I got and I became as a better player.
My first year another boy on my team told me that I didn’t belong on the field. It really hurt my feelings and I didn’t want to go back but I talked to my mom and dad. They talked to the coaches and the boy had to apologize to me, my coaches helped me a lot.
Q: What advice would you give to other girls who are playing or thinking about playing full contact football?
A: That it will feel weird at first being with a bunch of boys but no matter how hard it is at the beginning as long as your practice hard enough you’ll become the best version of a football player you can be.
