Q: What is your favorite part about playing football?
A: The love of the sport. I don’t get much playing time because this is a first for the Leavitt School, having a girl play for the high school. But I love that I’m hopefully making an impact for the younger girls playing on the youth teams (like my younger sister)
Q: What are some things you’ve learned from playing football?
A: Being the only girl on the team has been tough. I’ve dealt with some harassment and judgement by the boys. I’ve had to fight through a lot of my insecurities being out there with boys who clearly do not see me as an equal teammate. It’s taught me a lot about my own inner strength.
Q What motivates you to keep playing, even when it’s tough?
A: My love for the sport. My love for my coaches and teammates.
Q: Who is your biggest supporter and how do they encourage you?
A: My family. My mom and dad have had to do a lot of “behind the scenes” fighting for me to be treated fairly. Just so I could keep playing. They support what I want to do despite how hard it’s been.
Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: I would love for the coaches to not keep forcing me to practice with the freshmen team, because they are afraid I’ll get injured, and allow me to play and practice with the JV team.
