Our Story
The Maine Mayhem is the flagship program under the Maine Women’s Football Inc, a 501(c)3 non-profit. It was founded in 2015 and began competitive play in 2016. The team competes in the WFA (Women’s Football Alliance). The WFA has approximately 60 teams nationwide.
The Maine Mayhem provides female athletes, who are 18 or over, the opportunity to play full contact football in a positive environment where the expectation is that honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship are embraced by every participant. No prior football experience is necessary to join the team. New players learn the fundamentals with the help of our coaches and veteran players. The Mayhem also supports girls under 18 playing tackle football on traditionally boys’ teams throughout the state of Maine and beyond through our Girls of Fall program.
Our vision Statement
The vision of the Maine Mayhem is to create a highly competitive women’s football team and substantially expand community awareness of the opportunity for women to play tackle football.
Our mission statement
The mission of the Maine Mayhem is to provide women the opportunity to both learn and play tackle football in an encouraging environment that focuses on the fundamentals and techniques necessary for a positive experience in football and life.
