Q: Who is your favorite football player and/or team?
A: Patrick Mahomes, The Patriots and UNE. Their quarterback coach, lift coach and athletic director are all girls!
Q: what got you interested in playing full contact football?
A: Lots of my family played football at UMaine, Lobster Bowl, or in High School. My Pepe’ coached football for about 50years in Maine and is in the Hall of Fame. My dad coached with him. My mom played flag football. I played flag first and was scared to try tackle this year, but then I saw the other kids doing drills, and it didn’t look as scary as I thought so I switched over. My parents taught me all the positions, plays and how to pass and block. My coach teaches me a lot and helps me after all the drills or plays. I love football. I get to wear my jersey to school on Fridays!
Q: what challenges have you faced playing on a team made up mostly of boys and how have you overcome them?
A: Boys have said things like “it’s weird you’re playing football”. That made me sad. But it’s not weird, it’s awesome!
Q: What advice would you give to other girls who are playing or thinking about playing full contact football?
A: You can do hard things. Football is fun!
